Things to consider when buying a LED display

Things to consider 3

Purpose and location

Start by defining the purpose of your LED display and its intended location. Will it serve as outdoor advertising, an indoor digital sign, or a large-scale event screen? Knowing this helps determine factors like size, pixel pitch, brightness, and durability. Consider the environment where the LED display will operate. Outdoor displays need weatherproofing and high brightness, while indoor displays may require specific resolutions and viewing angles.

Checklist

” Choosing the right, energy efficient, LED display is crucial for visual success.

Resolution, viewing distance, and content management

Select the appropriate resolution and pixel pitch based on viewing distance. For close-up indoor displays, a smaller pitch is essential for clarity. Larger outdoor screens can have a slightly larger pitch due to the viewing distance. Lastly, consider how you’ll manage content. Look for user-friendly software and connectivity options to ensure seamless updates and control.

Crucial factors for smart LED display investments

When choosing a supplier, it is important not only to look at the initial purchase price, but also to take energy efficiency into account, as this has a huge impact on the TCO (total cost of ownership). Make sure you choose an energy efficient LED screen, high-quality LEDs combined with high quality components ensures that power usage is optimized. These considerations are vital to ensure that your TCO will be minimized and your LED display effectively serves its intended function and provides long-term value.

Understanding pixel pitch and viewing distance in LED displays

Pixel pitch

Pixel pitch (resolution) refers to the distance between individual pixels on an LED display. The pixel pitch you need, depends on the viewing distance. Smaller pixel pitch means pixels are closer together, resulting in higher resolution and image clarity. For applications with smaller viewing distances, a smaller pixel pitch ensures crisp visuals, while larger displays can have a slightly larger pixel pitch due to the viewing distance.

Finding the sweet spot for viewing distance

Viewing distance is the space between the viewer and the LED display. It directly correlates with pixel pitch. An outdoor LED billboard with a larger pixel pitch requires a longer viewing distance for optimal clarity. For example, a resolution of 20 mm has a minimum viewing distance of approx. 20 meters. A resolution of 10 mm has a minimum viewing distance of approx.10 meters and so on.

Mastering pixel pitch and viewing distance for LED displays

In summary, pixel pitch and viewing distance are interconnected factors that significantly impact the clarity and effectiveness of LED displays. By carefully considering these elements, you can ensure your LED display communicates your message effectively and captivates your audience, whether indoors or outdoors.

Understanding different types of LED displays SMD vs. DIP

SMD (Surface-Mount Device) LED displays

SMD LED lamps are used for high resolution indoor and outdoor displays. One SMD led contains all three colours in one (red, green, blue), SMD leds are therefore more compact, which means you can place the LED lamps closer together and thus create much finer pixel pitches. The standard LED lamp surface has a light colour. Black SMD LED lamps, for higher contrast, are optional.

Comparison DIP vs SMD

” LED displays come in various types, each with its unique advantages.

DIP (Dual In-line Package) LED displays

DIP LED lamps are most used for larger outdoor displays due to their long live-span and intense brightness. One pixel consists of three separate led lamps: red, green and blue. DIP LED displays are recognized for their low power consumption and versatility. DIP displays are robust and perform well in harsh outdoor environments, making them suitable for outdoor billboards and signage.

Choosing the right LED display

In summary, both SMD and DIP LED displays have their unique characteristics, making them suitable for various applications. While SMD displays excel with their high resolution, DIP displays shine due to their higher brightness and lower power consumption. Understanding these differences allows you to choose the right LED display for your specific needs, ensuring your message shines brightly in any environment.

Trivision mechanism and prism types

Rotapanel mechanism 2

The unparalleled Trivision drive system

Rotapanel’s Trivision billboards boast a patented drive system, which stands out for its low maintenance requirements. This self-lubricating mechanism, unique to our brand, translates to near-zero maintenance needs, granting advertisers peace of mind. Furthermore, this system holds the distinction of being the lightest-running globally, ensuring optimal efficiency and minimized energy usage.

Rotapanel prism types

Different prism types

The prisms on our Trivision billboards come in varying types and dimensions, designed to suit diverse advertising needs. In order to accommodate a quick and easy way of changing sign faces, Rotapanel has various prism options available; solid 100 mm, solid 125 mm, slide-in 100 mm, slide-in 125 mm and split-ALU 100 mm.

Prism types explained

With solid prims, you apply self-adhesive foil directly to the aluminum profiles. With slide-in prisms there is no need for self-adhesive foil, just slide-in the printed plastic strips and a sign face for an entire 60 square meter panel can be replaced within 10 minutes. Split-ALU prisms are another alternative for quick sign face changes. Depending on your application we can provide the best and most cost effective solution.

Rotapanel signs: where durability meets advertising efficiency

The demands of constant rotation

Rotapanel Prismatic Variable Message Signs (PVMS) are in a state of continual action. On average, a Rotapanel rotates about 15 million times a year, underscoring the importance of reliability. The persistent movement makes the need for sturdiness not just a luxury, but a necessity in the world of advertising.

” Reliability in every rotation.

Proven Rotapanel quality

The Rotapanel sign’s impressive quality sets it apart in the industry. Its life expectancy surpasses 15 years, a testament to its robust design and meticulous engineering. This durability ensures not only a prolonged presence on roadsides or city centers but also a decreased need for frequent replacements or costly maintenance.

Cost-efficiency through durability

Given the extended lifespan and low power consumption of Rotapanel signs, advertisers find themselves incurring fewer long-term costs. When coupled with its reliable performance, it’s evident that Rotapanel provides an economically efficient solution for modern advertising needs. This long-term cost efficiency solidifies its position as a go-to choice for advertisers worldwide.

Solar-powered Trivision signs: energy efficient advertising

The efficiency of Rotapanel Trivision signs

Rotapanel Trivision signs have revolutionized the advertising landscape. Unlike traditional billboards that remain static, these signs use rotating prisms to display multiple messages and generate huge attention value. The beauty lies in their energy efficiency: they only consume power during rotation, making their energy usage comparable to, or even less than, an average living room light.

Sustainability

” Low power consumption, high impact.

Perfect match with solar power

Given the low-energy requirement of Rotapanel Trivision signs, they’re an ideal candidate for solar-powered applications. By integrating solar panels, these advertising boards can operate autonomously, drawing energy from the sun. This not only reduces electricity costs but also minimizes the environmental footprint of the advertising medium.

The added benefits of going solar

Beyond sustainability, solar-powered Trivision signs also offer practical benefits. They can be installed in remote locations and there is no need for cable excavation because grid connectivity is not necessary. This flexibility will save installation costs, expands advertising reach and provides an opportunity to target previously inaccessible audiences. It’s a win-win, both for the environment and advertisers.
